Mugen Seiki | MTC-3 1/10 Touring Car

Japanese manufacturer Mugen Seiki previewed the new MTC-3 electric touring car last month ahead of the 2025 TITC (Thailand International Touring Car Championship), and today, the details of this new car were officially announced.

The MTC-3 is an upgrade to the MTC-2 and MTC-2R platforms, with its prototype first debuting at the 2024 IFMAR World Championship, where it performed excellently in its inaugural race, with both MTC-3 entries advancing to the A final group, Ronald Volker finishing 4th and Jacob Cruz finishing 10th!

The MTC-3 features an entirely new design. Only the drive shafts, front straight axle, differential, and drive belts from the MTC-2R remain; all other components have been redeveloped to enhance handling, adjustability, and lap speed.

MTC-3 Main Features

Chassis

  • 1.5mm aluminum chassis, suitable for asphalt and carpet tracks.
  • Uses only standard screws, with no need for additional special screws.
  • The chassis provides a wider range of torsional rigidity adjustments to accommodate various track conditions.
  • Features a low center of gravity design (lowered by 0.5mm and 0.7mm, respectively), enhancing cornering performance.
  • Optimized chassis contour reduces the possibility of bottoming out and increases ground clearance, eliminating the need for additional carbon fiber chassis options.

Suspension System

  • New carbon fiber lowers arms enhance rigidity and durability.
  • Optimized shock and upper arm angle adjustments, no shims needed, making adjustments faster and more convenient.

Motor Mount

  • New aluminum motor mount optimizes the power transmission structure.
  • Adjustable center shaft height to accommodate different drive needs.
  • Optimized weight distribution enhances overall vehicle balance.

Upper Deck

  • New carbon fiber upper deck optimizes overall chassis rigidity.
  • Supports the removal of the upper servo support plate, simplifying adjustments and maintenance processes.
  • The differential can be quickly removed without disassembling other parts; just remove the rear upper deck to replace it.
  • The new upper deck fixing method enhances stability and handling feedback.

Shock System

  • Shock towers are directly fixed to the main body without additional accessories (fixed or movable modes selectable).
  • New short-stroke shock lowers the center of gravity and optimizes geometric structure.
  • New ultra-short shock springs provide richer tuning options.
  • The shock system is lightweight, reducing overall vehicle weight and improving dynamic response.

Body Post

  • Optimized body mounting method makes body fixing more convenient.
  • The front body post supports 2 mounting distances, simplifying the body preprocess.
  • The rear body post offers 3 mounting options (horizontal, vertical, and additionally mounting to the rear wing supports).
  • The rear suspension features adjustable upper stroke limiters, included in the MTC-3 kit.

Other Upgrades

  • Body support components enhance body stability.
  • New upper arm design uses 6mm ball heads for increased stability and durability.
  • Two body positioning points to accommodate various body designs.
  • Lightweight crash foam, and the carbon fiber upper crash plate includes adjustable suspension stroke limiters.
