Tips on Cleaning & Lubricating Ball Bearings (RC Bearing Tips)
Tips for Handling New Ball Bearing:
Most competition RC racers will clean the grease on the new ball bearings and apply ball bearing oil on them. (i.e. Yeah Racing High Speed Bearing Oil / Lube #YA-0215).
As re-oiling the ball bearing allows the RC cars to run smoother and makes the bearings more durable.
Tips for Maintaining Old Ball Bearing:
By removing the old bearing oil, it will reduce the friction in the bearing, thus making RC car run faster.
Below are some tips in cleaning the ball bearings.
Preparation:
High Speed Bearing Oil / Lube (#YA-0215)

Step 1: Cleaning
Soak the ball bearings with volatile degreaser (i.e. brake cleaner) / apply motor spray on them.
Step 2: Shake & Soak
Shake the bearing case vigorously to remove dirt. It will loosen and remove the dirt trapped inside the bearings.
Soak the bearings for another 15-30 minutes. Repeat the process until the oil / liquid is clean.
Step 3: Drying
Step 4: Re-greasing
Dry the ball bearing with hot air gun / hair blower to prevent rusting of the bearing.
Apply light oil on the bearings, give it about 20 minutes to penetrate the seals and then clean the outsides up.

This tool can test the smoothness of the bearing. Put the bearing on the tool and turn the bearing to check its smoothness.
If the bearing does not turn smoothly, then it’s time to get a new one.

These are the bearings which i use on my Mugen MTX4R to replace all the original ones. Although the original ones are rubber sealed it does not have the Blue Teflon seal which i find makes the bearings spins easily because there is lesser traction then the rubber version. With these bearings im sure they will fit most other 1?10 model GP touring cars, because they basically uses all the same size. I use the bearings on my other Kyosho V One RRR with no problems, a perfect fit. But if you dont have rubber or Teflon sealed bearings then you should becuase they help keep all the little dirt and dust particles out of inside your bearings which you cant see and will effect the overall handling of your car. I find they are much easire to maintain and clean because you can use a fine tip tweezer or pliers and carfeully pop up the seal to clean the inside. I spray a large amount of WD40 to clean everything out then pat dry it and re-lubricate the inside before putting everything back. With metal seal bearings once dirt gets in thier and you cant open the seal then you pretty much need to buy new ones to replace those, and because the front and rear wheel shaft uses the bearings to drive the wheel, the wheel inturn picks up alot of dirt and debree alot more and is exsposed also more thne the other bearings. So these are greath to replace over your old metal seal bearings and they not costly.
