A while ago I upgraded to this motor from a 540 silver can in my DF02 buggy. This provided the huge improvement I was after. The Tamiya TEU-101 ESC can drive this motor with ease, so it was about the best motor I could upgrade to without buying a new ESC. This is a 23 turn single wind motor (23x1)
Being a single wind, it doesn't rev quite as high as the other super stock motors, like the RZ, but what it lacks in rpm's it more then makes up for in torque. So just gear the car one pinion higher and it'll hang with other motors and have more torque then them.
Like the other review of this motor here, I too found that the brushes and comm last a very long time, much longer then any Trinity motor I have owned.
The motor has surface mount capacitors on the endbell, so you needn't solder your own capacitors on to reduce the possibility of glitching.
I owned this motor for about 4 years before I had to cut the comm or even change the brushes. I had the comm cut and new brushes put it and the motor still runs like a dream. I sold the motor to a friend who still continues to use it now. He runs a 7 cell nimh through it and the extra speed from the 7th cell makes a good difference.
This is probably one of the best motors around for a direct bolt in replacement if you use the stock Tamiya TEU-101 esc. It is quicker then lower wind cheap motors and it lasts longer too.
Also being able to officially race this motor in a Tamiya sanctioned event is a major benefit - not something you could do with Venom motors, or any other make of motor.
