Z

• Z Bend --
A series of bends on a wire pushrod that resembles the letter 'z', only with 90* angles. This bend allows the pushrod to be 'hooked' into the servo arm's or linkage holes and held in place. Z bends are effective, but some hardcore racers don't like them because of excess play (or slop).


• Z Bend Pliers --
A specialty tool resembling pliers that easily makes a Z bend in linkage wire.


• Zap - Zapping --
The practice of applying high voltage (30V to 40V) to cells (batteries) or motor magnets. Zapping cells breaks up crystalline deposits on the separator, which improves internal resistance and performance. Zapping motor magnets increases magnetic field strength. Zapping is usually done at the factory, but there are aftermarket machines available to do your own zapping.


• ZEN --
A moment of consciousness when you become one with the universe, and all of the physics of RC are suddenly crystal clear. While experiencing Zen, you will be able to pull off that impossible inside pass, land a backflip, hold a wheely through a powerslide, and reprogram the exponential on your radio - all while picking your nose. Unfortunately, Zen is usually followed by the 'I can't believe I just did that' syndrome, which causes you to loose concentration and plow your ride into the nearest wall.


• Zero --
Refers to returning a setting or adjustment back to neutral (or stock). This is most commonly done when 'experimenting' with settings has gotten the model so far out of whack that starting from scratch is the best alternative. Zero also means no adjustments are made, such as zero toe or zero camber.


• Zip Tie --
The common name for a nylon tie wrap, named """"zip"""" tie because of the sound it makes as you tighten the strap.
