Q

  • Quad (Wind) --
  • Refers to a brushed motor that has 4 separate wires wrapped around the armature.

  • Qualifier --
  • "When you attend an RC car race, you will normally have two or three qualification races, then you will race in your Main Event. The way racers are sorted varies between different events, but usually you will have your best """"qualifying time"""" determine what Main you will race in (some racing organizations use FTD, or Fastest Time of the Day, to determine qualifying order). The qualifying time refers to the number of laps you are able to complete during the qualifying race (each qualifier is normally 4 or 5 minutes). If you tie with someone else who has the same number of laps, the lowest elapsed time will win. See the entry for Main Event to see how the rest of a race event is run."

  • Quick Change Hub --
  • This is basically an axle that uses a spring loaded clip instead of a wheel nut to hold the rim to the axle. The clip is depressed to remove the rim, and angled so a new rim can be pressed on and 'clicked' into place, allowing super fast tire changes. Quick change hubs are most commonly found on 1:8 on road cars and buggies, as well as some 1:10 2WD trucks.

  • Quick Charger --
  • A timer based battery charger that stops charging whenever the timer runs out, regardless of whether the batteries are fully charged or not.

  • Quint (Wind) --
  • Refers to a brushed motor that has 5 separate wires wrapped around the armature.
