Smac Trac, one of the most competitive and active 1/10th off-road tracks in the country provides the setting and host track to one of the most anticipated winter races in the country. Funtime Hobbies of Hesperia California is soon becoming the place to race. It was the site of this years Novarossi Challenge with a supercross style track. TQing and winning the Expert Class was Kaulin Hall and followed by Tamiya driver Ricky Racer. The track was changing every lap so you really had to be on your toes, however it was Kaulin who laid down some strong lap times, to help with a commanding win. The half hour main saw this young driver proceeded to win his third race in less than a month against some of the countries top drivers.” He is definitely on a roll,” Funtime Hobbies should definitely be a stop on your racing schedule, stocked with all your racing needs as well as excellent service from the groomed large track to the excellent tacos, just ask VP-Pro team driver Hallin Kaulin he lost count after 7. Another Punishing Weekend for Ryan Maifield and JConcepts

Kicking off ’10 in style the CRCRC club creates a 2-week home to some of the world’s fastest drivers competing for that first win of the New Year at the Annual Winter Midwest Championships. JConcepts driver Ryan Maifield with his RC8T-CE won the 1/8th truck class and TQ’ed the 1/8th buggy class with JConcepts tires and accessories. Also in on the action for JConcepts and AE was Florida driver JR Mitch. With both drivers having recent success at the JConcepts Clash, just a month earlier it was business as usual for this AE powerhouse.

Stoke Nitro Racers Winter Series – Round 5
25/01/10
This round of the SNRC winter series was graced by the attendance of a few of the top national drivers, aiming to do battle with the fast local drivers on this challenging track.

The Stoke track is a good blend of fast and technical sections with quite a few jumps to test the drivers ability. As is to be expected in winter the track was damp early doors and the obligatory Hobao Angle spike tyres were heavily in evidence.

Event: 2009 JConcepts Clash

JConcepts and Ryan Maifield, JR Mitch and JP Richards win at 2009 Clash.

The 3rd annual JConcepts Clash kicked off at Lake Park in Lutz, Florida and the competition was hot and heavy as drivers from all over came to the hottest off-road event in Florida 3 years running.  The event started off very slowly with consistent rain on Thursday, severely limiting the practice on the quick and technical track layout.   As Friday came, the rains and weather disappeared but the conditions were still rather damp and the usually high bite surface was now a slick groove.   Friday morning, drivers were eager to practice and attacked the track trying to find the hottest driving lines and setups.

May 15th, Practice Day,

Practice opened at 9am Friday. The track was a little rougher than intended due to the black gumbo used being really hard to lay smooth. The good part of it was there was mega traction whether the track was wet or dry! Racers had to learn how to ease into the cormers or suffer a traction roll. We pushed back the practice races until 6pm to allow late arrivals a chance to get in some practice. Spectator turnout on friday was good considering most of the track time was open practice and we only did announcing during the races at the end of the day.

The 2nd round of the Buggy Party series in Thailand was held at new RC Mania track last weekend with over 100 buggies in attendance. Following qualifying it was Meen V. that claimed the TQ spot, yet in the 40 minute final it was another victory for Surikarn C. The newly signed Xray factory driver took the win by 10 seconds ahead of his Xray team mate Meen V. with 2008 National Champion Yutthana D., driving a Hobao in 3rd spot. This is Surikarn’s 2nd win in as many races using his Xray XB808, powered by Nosram engine & tires.

ROAR 1:8 LiPo Battery Specification Amendment. The 1:8 Electric Racing Classes are an emerging form of our sport. Our responsibility in ROAR Leadership Role is to outline a set of specifications which ensure a responsible growth and flexibility to leverage advancements based on the benefits they offer our users.

The Executive Committee, in accordance with our responsibility to ensure our Members, Organizers, and Affiliate Partners have access to provide the best Technology available for our members benefit, are issuing the following Revision to our 4S Battery Dimension Specifications. The change will allow our Affiliate partners to take advantage of a growing assortment of next generation LiPo cells for 1:8 Electric Racing, as well as the option using larger gauge wire in the assembly process. Rule 8.3.2.3.3. is revising the Hardcase Length dimension from 160mm to 165mm.
