Novak’s Smart Boost 1-Cell Li-Po Step-Up Module allows nearly any brushless or brushed speed control, receiver and servo to run on 1-cell Li-Po. This new technology expands racing opportunities for many drivers by reducing racing expenses and giving drivers the chance to race on smaller tracks.
The Smart Boost increases the 1-cell Li-Po battery pack’s voltage from 3.3V – 4.2V to 6V, ensuring that the receiver and servo receive a full 6V/3A power throughout the duration of a run. This allows the electronics to operate at their optimum levels. Additionally, the Smart Boost gives you the ability to run a 1-cell Li-Po cell with the same ESC, servo and receiver that you would normally run with any 2-3S Li-Po or 4-7 cell NiMH battery pack, including all of Novak’s brushed or brushless speed controls.

*By increasing battery output voltage, the Smart Boost allows users to use any radio receiver in single-cell applications, including spread spectrum radios. The usual voltage fluctuations that cause reception issues with your radio using 1S Li-Po or 4-cell NiMH battery packs are no longer a concern.
The Smart Boost was designed to be used in small or medium-scale vehicles and with 1-cell Li-Po battery packs, such as SMC’s® 1-cell Li-Po pack (#SUM4025S). It also has a Li-Po cut-off feature that will interrupt power to the motor when the battery voltage drops below 3.3V to prevent damage to the battery pack.
