Brushless Motor with Sensor & Sensorless
Brushless motor was primarily applied to remote-controlled planes a decade ago. Recently, with increasing popularity in various applications, brushless motor has become the mainstream of electric models. It is now not only commonly applied to planes but also to various cars and boats.
The popularity of brushless motor is attributed to its innovative design of built-in sensors. It is called sensor brushless motor, which was introduced to younger generation three years ago. And now, sensor brushless motor has changed the entire community of the electric-powered models.

Control Difference between Sensor and Sensorless Motors
Performance difference for built-in sensor brushless motor, RC plane generally demands long running time and fast speed. Traditional brushless motor can meet the need. However, this is not enough for a car or boat, which also requests a more flexible and efficient control of speed and acceleration. Only sensor brushless motor can satisfy such higher level of need.
After sensor motor had launched in the market, racers changed their thoughts on brushless motor. The sensor motor is equipped with 3 pieces of sensors which are used to manage the motor rotor position so as to make the ESC faster and speed change effective. Thus, racers can improve speed control feeling. With the advantages of more efficient, faster and more electric energy saving, most of racers have switched to brushless ESC and motor indeed.
Layman is recommended to use sensorless brushless motor partly because it is cheaper and partly because an average racer may just take a half second advantage when using such sensor motor. However, a skilful racer may increase the performance much more with that motor.
